Safmarine has been involved in training officers and ratings for the maritime industry for more than 30 years - from the ‘grass roots’ sponsorship of maritime studies classes at a secondary school near Cape Town, through an award-winning international Cadet Officer training programme.

As a result of a Safmarine initiative in this field, the A.P. Moller Foundation established a state-of-the-art South African Maritime Training Academy (SAMTRA) in Cape Town, South Africa. (More on www.samtra.co.za)
