Container Seal Policy

In our continuous effort to help protect our customers’ cargo, and to comply with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) and the updated Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT Plus) programme, we have established the following policy:

"All containers moving under a Safmarine bill of lading must have a unique and verifiable high security bolt seal, meeting the criteria of ISO PAS 17712, affixed to it at all times during transport."

For the benefit of our customers and to support global supply chain security, we now require the use of high security seals. This procedure will minimise the risk of unauthorised access into the container, and thereby also limit the risk of cargo pilferage. If a container is not correctly sealed upon receipt from the shipper, we will arrange for an approved seal and ensure correct placement.

If you have any questions or require more information, please contact your local Safmarine sales representative.
